The DS1866 Log Trimmer potentiometer is a single volatile digital potentiometer with 8 positions and a resolution of 5db per step. The device provides an ideal method for low-cost trimming or volume control using the CPU or manual control of the input. The wiper position of the device is set to one of eight positions through the 3-terminal parallel port. The position of the wiper is determined by the pins of the P0, P1, and P2 interfaces.

The DS1866 is a 10k potentiometer available in industrial temperature grades. In addition, the DS1866 will operate from either a 3V or 5V power supply, making it ideal for portable applications requiring low standby current. Two package options are available, including 8-pin (300-mil) DIP and 8-pin (150-mil) SOIC.

DS1866 is a single volatile potentiometer. The device has eight positions with a resolution of 5 dB per step and a total attenuation range of 0 dB to -35 dB. These contacts are accessible through the w terminal, whose position is controlled by a 3-terminal parallel port consisting of input signals P0, P1, and P2.

The wiper position setting of the DS1866 is determined by the status of input terminals P0, P1, and P2. The following is an overview of the location Settings and parallel port input values. The position 0 setting places the wiper position at the l end of the potentiometer and provides 35 dB attenuation. As the wiper position increases, the attenuation decreases, with position 7 giving 0 dB attenuation. During power-on, the wiper positions of the DS1866 will be set to P0, P1, and P2
