The LTM2882 is a complete electrically isolated dual RS232µModule transceiver. No external components are required. A single 3.3V or 5V power supply supplies both sides of the interface through an integrated isolated DC/DC converter. Logic power pins allow easy interfacing with different logic levels (from 1.62V to 5.5V), independent of the main power supply. Coupled inductors and isolated power transformers provide 2500VRMS isolation between the line transceiver and the logical interface.
Typical application
The device is suitable for systems with different grounding, allowing the use of large common-mode voltages. For common-mode transients greater than 30kV/μs, uninterrupted communication is guaranteed. This part complies with TIA/EIA-232-F standards. Driver output is protected from overload and can be short-circuited to ground or up to ±15V without damage.
Auxiliary isolation digital channel available. This channel allows half-duplex operation to be configured via the control DE pin. Enhanced ESD protection enables the part to withstand up to ±10kV(mannequin) of transceiver interface pins to the isolation power supply and through the isolation barrier to the logic power supply without latching or damaging.
