     The MAX3080-MAX3089 high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 communication includes a driver and a receiver. These devices have fail safe circuits to ensure the receiver output with high logic when the receiver input is open or short circuited. This means that if all transmitters on the termination bus are disabled (high impedance), the receiver output will be a logic high. The MAX3080/MAX3081/MAX3082 function reduces the slew rate drive, minimizes electromagnetic interference, reduces reflection caused by improper termination cables, and allows error free data transmission up to 115kbps.

    The MAX3083/MAX3084/MAX3085 provides a higher drive output slew rate limit, allowing transmission speeds up to 500 kbps. The drive conversion rate of MAX3086/MAX3087/MAX3088 is unlimited, making it possible to achieve a transmission speed of 10Mbps. The conversion rate of MAX3089 can be selected between 115kbps, 500kbps and 10Mbps by driving a selector pin with a single three state driver.

        These transceivers typically extract 375 when unloaded or fully loaded and the drive is disabled μ  A supply current. All devices have 1/8 unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. MAX3082/MAX3085/MAX3088 is used for half duplex communication, while MAX3080/MAX3081/MAX3083/MAX3084/MAX3086/MAX3087 is used for full duplex communication. The MAX3089 can be selected between half duplex and full duplex. It also has separate programmable receiver and transmitter output phases through separate pins.
