Freescale's QorIQ LS series processors are based on the ARM architecture, which provides unprecedented efficiency and scale for smarter, more powerful networks and future industrial infrastructures than ever before. The QorIQ LS1 series is the first of a series of ARM-based processors that bring networking knowledge and strong connectivity to a wide range of applications such as programmable logic controllers, IoT gateways, and consumer broadband home routing. The QorIQ LS1024A system-on-chip (SoC) communications processor provides greatly improved processing power and VoIP density, wire-speed processing of small packets, DRM-compliant security, and enterprise-level VPN and SSL throughput. With the integration of new features emerging in the CPE market, the processor can save significant system costs. In addition to providing high-throughput IPsec and SSL CPU offloading, the on-board security engine of the QorIQ LS1024A communications processor also includes a powerful deep packet inspection engine with GZIP decompression. The device's three Ethernet interfaces allow DMZ configuration, providing further security for SOHO / SMB routers and gateways. Applications include high-end VoIP and video-enabled home gateways, high-performance security devices for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), 802.11n enterprise access points powered by Ethernet, consumer networked storage products, and secure payment terminals.
