Sensirion has introduced the SGP41 VOC+NOx sensor for indoor air quality. The sensor is a digital intelligent switch and adjustment unit for air treatment equipment such as air purifier.

Good air quality is an important part of a healthy indoor environment, as indoor air pollution can have a negative impact on our health. There are many possible and common hazards in indoor air, such as VOCs (commonly found in building materials, furniture and cleaning products and emitted by humans) and NOx (by-products of combustion). Exposure to these contaminants can be limited by ensuring adequate ventilation in enclosed Spaces.

In addition, air treatment equipment can remove harmful gases from the indoor environment and avoid unhealthy conditions. The air purifier with the new SGP41 becomes smart, it always reliably monitors VOC and NOx and automatically removes these gas emissions when fitted with the right filter.

The Sensirion's powerful gas index algorithm processes two sensor signals that can be directly used to automatically trigger an air treatment device to remove gaseous contaminants from indoor air without user interaction with the device. The sensor provides a solution for two complete sensors on a single chip, facilitating design and reducing design costs. With the company's MOXSens technology, the sensor has unmatched robustness against siloxane contamination, resulting in excellent long-term stability in sensitivity and response time. This sensor solution is therefore ideal for continuous monitoring of VOC and NOx levels, including potentially harmful events that are undetectable to humans.

In addition, automatic control of air handling equipment based on SGP41 signals helps save energy by shutting down VOC and NOx events after they have been processed.

Dr. Oliver Martin, Senrion Gas Sensor Product Manager said:"This sensor platform is capable of measuring both volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides simultaneously, thus responding to the growing awareness of the importance of good indoor air quality, as well as more stringent requirements for these applications." With SGP41, the Sensirion aims to further improve indoor air quality and help protect our health and well-being, "
