Rohm's BH1745NUC digital color sensor IC with I2C bus interface. The IC senses red, green and blue light (RGB) and converts them to digital values. It has high sensitivity, wide dynamic range and "excellent" ir-cut characteristics. This makes it ideal for obtaining the illuminance and color temperature of ambient light to adjust the LCD backlight of TVs, mobile phones and tablets. The company says the device can detect a very wide range of light intensity.
