The MAX1776 high-efficiency step-down converter offers adjustable output voltages from 1.25V to VIN, with supply voltages up to 24V. Internal current limit 0.4Ω MOSFET provides load current up to 600mA. Work to 100% duty cycle to minimize drop voltage (240mV at 600mA).

The MAX1776 features a low static current of 15 μa to improve light-load efficiency and save battery life. When turned off, the device absorbs only 3µA. High switching frequencies (up to 200kHz) allow the use of tiny surface-mounted inductors and output capacitors. The MAX1776 comes in an 8-pin µMAX package with only half the space of the 8-pin SO. To increase output drive capability, the MAX1626/ MAX1627 step-down controller is used, which drives an external P-channel MOSFET with output power up to 20W.
