     TDK's MLJ-G series of multilayer inductors are targeted for automotive power over coaxial (PoC) implementations. MLJ1608WG series inductors achieve a maximum impedance of 2500 Ω. They also retain an impedance level of 1000 Ω in the frequency range of 300 MHz to 2 GHz. While the impedance characteristics of conventional multilayer inductors vary greatly depending on the applied current, and sufficient impedance cannot be guaranteed, the MLJ1608WG series provides much less current variation.

     Although these components measure 1.6 mm (L) x 0.8 mm (W) x 0.8 mm (H), they still support a high current rating of 500 mA. This greatly reduces impedance changes during application of current. Additionally, these components provide reliable performance at temperatures up to +125°C. With the widespread application of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the performance of automotive cameras has been greatly improved. As a result, there is a growing need for higher-speed and higher-capacity interfaces. Automotive camera systems using LVDS transmission employ a PoC approach that overlays data and power onto a single coaxial cable.

     By transmitting data and power, PoC reduces the number of wiring harnesses required. This helps reduce the weight of the vehicle, as well as allowing space savings to be achieved. In PoC circuits, efficient filtering is required to separate the data from the power supply. It usually consists of two to four inductors. Inductors used for such filters must have high impedance from low frequency to high frequency AC components. The MLJ1608WG series is highly optimized to meet these requirements by enabling impedance values ​​of 1000 Ω or higher over a wide frequency range.
