Texas Instruments TPA3140D2 is a high efficiency Class D audio power amplifier for driving bridged stereo speakers with a maximum power of 10W / 6ohm or 8ohm per channel. Advanced EMI suppression technology with spread spectrum control and 1SPW modulation scheme can use cheap ferrite bead filters at the output, while meeting the requirements of reducing EMC and reducing system costs. The TPA3140D2 not only has comprehensive short circuit and overload protection, SpeakerGuard's speaker protection circuit also includes adjustable automatic gain limit (AGL), adjustable power limiter and DC detection circuit to protect the connected speakers. AGL can adjust the maximum output voltage without signal clipping, which enhances speaker protection and audio quality. DC detection and pin-to-pin, pin-to-ground, and pin-to-power short-circuit protection circuits protect the speakers from output DC and pin shorts produced in production. The output is also fully protected from GND, PVCC, and output to output. Short-circuit and thermal protection include automatic recovery. The TPA3140D2 can drive stereo speakers down to 4ohm impedance. The high efficiency of the TPA3140D2 (90% at 8ohm load) eliminates the need for an external heat sink. The TPA3140D2 will be able to output full power on a 2-layer PCB.
