Texas Instruments - Integrated modulator driver and limiting amplifier needs no reference clock (ONET1130EC)

Technology Cover
Nach Datum: 2015-09-24
Texas Instruments ONET1130EC is a 2.5V integrated modulator driver and limiting amplifier with transmit and receive clocks and data recovery (CDR). It is designed to operate between 9.8Gbps to 11.7Gbps without the need for a reference clock. Including optical loopback and electrical loopback. CDR bypass mode can be used to run at lower data rates, and the two-wire serial interface allows digital control of functions. The transmission path includes an adjustable input equalizer for equalizing microstrip or stripline transmission lines of FR4 printed circuit boards up to 300 mm (12 inches), a multi-rate CDR, and an output modulator driver. The output waveform control can be performed in the form of cross-point adjustment and de-emphasis to increase the margin of the optical eyecup. Bias current is provided for the laser and includes an integrated automatic power control (APC) loop to compensate for changes in average optical power with voltage, temperature, and time. The receive path includes a limiting amplifier with programmable equalization and threshold adjustment, a multi-rate CDR and output de-emphasis to compensate for the frequency loss of the connector connected to the device output, microstrip or stripline, and receiver output amplitude The loss of the sum signal assertion level can be adjusted. ONET1130EC includes internal analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters to support transceiver management and eliminate the need for dedicated microcontrollers. The transceiver's operating temperature range is -40C to 100C, and it has a small size package of 4mm x 4mm and a 32-pin VQFN package that complies with RoHS.
