The Texas Instruments OPT4001DTSEVM Evaluation Module provides requirements and interface options for evaluating OPT4001 in a DTS package. OPT4001 is a high-speed, high-precision digital ambient light sensor for a variety of lighting conditions and different cover materials.The TI OPT4001DTSEVM evaluation module consists of two PCBS, the first is the OPTMBEVM motherboard and the second is the OPT4001 attachment board.
The OPTMBEVM motherboard features a USB port (to communicate with a computer running GUI evaluation software), a socket (to plug into the add-on board), and an MSP430 microprocessor (to act as a bridge between a PC and a device that plugs into the socket). In addition, the board supports powering the optical sensor and sending and receiving appropriate digital signals between the optical sensor and the PC.
The second board is the OPT4001 attached board, which includes the OPT4001 and the decoupling capacitor. The attached board can be plugged into the motherboard, and software is used to quickly evaluate when plugged in. It supports removal of the attached board and direct access to the device pins for evaluation in the system.
