Anritsu Corporation and dSPACE will jointly demonstrate the integration of PC-based simulation systems with sensor-reality simulation in a 5G network simulator at THE 2022 MWC. The joint display shows how to avoid collisions between vehicles and objects or people at intersections where visibility is limited.

In this demonstration, sensor-based information is exchanged between vehicles and the infrastructure of the intersection area using 5G communication technology. The example application used in the demonstration is advanced Intersection Collision Warning (AICW). In the demo, V2X data and video data collected by camera sensors are provided and analyzed to warn people or objects, such as vulnerable road users in blind spots, commonly seen at intersections.

The demonstration uses 5G network slicing technology to set up a separate URLLC link to transmit V2X hazard warning data and an eMBB link to share hd video.

Gregor Hordys, head of connectivity issues at dSPACE, explains: "The solution adds state-of-the-art realistic sensors and vehicle simulations to the radio communication test system, enabling advanced applications for connected and collaborative autonomous driving to be tested in the laboratory based on 5G and edge computing."

Jonathan Borrill, head of global market technology at Anritsu  said:"This joint integration and the power of this solution is an important step forward in 5G V2X testing and simulation. This industry-leading demonstration is an exciting example of 5G V2X application development, "

To provide a 5G network slice test environment for automotive V2X use cases, the demonstration used the Anritsu MT8000A radio communication test station and dSPACE VEOS (PC-based simulation platform) and dSPACE AURELION solutions for real sensor simulation.

The exhibition will be held from February 28 to March 3, 2022 at MCW 2022's Anli Booth (Hall 5, D41). It will also be on display at the Amritech Virtual MWC22 - Wireless Technology Showroom, which launches on February 28.
